Current Volunteer Opportunities
The Public Works Department is responsible for providing and maintaining the City's infrastructure in a manner that ensures the health, safety, and welfare of the City's residents and visitors. This includes the planning, design, construction, the repair and maintenance of City vehicles and equipment, and operations of public land, including:
- Sewers and storm drains
- Public buildings and structures
- Water production
- Storage and delivery facilities
The City of Monterey Park is a recipient of grant funding from CalRecycle's Rubberized Asphalt and Concrete Grant Program. For 2012, 19,479 used tires were diverted from California landfills through the repaving of the streets with rubberized asphalt.
